Earlier this year, we introduced a new AI assistant built into the Airwallex WebApp, allowing users to take action and gather information through natural-language prompts.
That’s how it started, and over the past few months we’ve made it much more powerful. The assistant understands your business context and applies it to help you onboard faster, discover patterns to improve operations, and take informed actions across 100+ different tools and workflows.
As these capabilities grew, it seemed inadequate to call it our “AI assistant.” It’s found a permanent home in our product, and we felt like it deserved a name. So we named it.
Say hi to Kai.
Faster and more capable
Kai is your intelligent companion for managing your financial operations. It understands how Airwallex works in detail, points you to the exact place you need to go, and troubleshoots issues with precision.
Kai also knows its limitations, including when it’s necessary to bring a human into the loop and escalate to the right support team. But that’s rarely necessary. Kai is already handling 88% of user conversations without escalating to a human – a step change in auto-resolution.
Some of Kai’s improvements that we’ve shipped since February include:
Faster setup: Kai has helped 14,000+ customers onboard onto Airwallex with a customized setup process based on their company information
Recognize recurring patterns: when you regularly send money to the same recipient, Kai can prefill the details and guide you through completion
Spend approval setup: tell Kai what you need, and it creates multi-step workflows for spend approval to help you scale processes as your business grows
Transfers made simple: initiate transfers and track their status – just tell Kai who to pay, how much, and when
Card management: request new cards, adjust your limits, and manage existing cards
Page awareness: Kai knows the content of the page you’re viewing, and considers that context in fulfilling your request

Kai will continue to get smarter and more proficient in helping you navigate your full financial stack. Here are some new capabilities we’re working on for Kai to handle for you soon:
Analytics and intelligence: Kai will provide immediate answers to broader questions about your business, such as your burn rate and how much you’re spending on AI infrastructure
Smarter payment acceptance: Kai will guide you through the payment acceptance setup from start to finish, and recommend optimal payment methods based on your industry, customer base, and countries you operate in
Employee onboarding: Kai will help your new employees get up to speed, e.g. assigning roles and configuring permissions.
