LONDON: Airwallex, a leading global financial platform for modern businesses, has become an Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team. Starting in January 2027, the partners will look to build faster, more efficient technology on and off the track, enabling the collection of payments from customers using a range of global and local payment methods.
McLaren Racing and Airwallex’s partnership has now been extended, after first launching together as technology partners in 2024. As part of its partnership, its brand presence will expand to feature Airwallex on the sleeve of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team kit, increasing the brand’s visibility across the race track throughout the season. Airwallex branding will remain on both Formula 1 cars in the Halo Rear Left position and on the drivers’ overalls.
The change comes after Airwallex raised $320 million in Series H funding in June at an $11 billion valuation to accelerate the development of its next generation of AI-native financial software. This includes T:0, an AI-native platform designed to run a business’s finance function end to end, and Airi, an agentic consumer wallet being developed to support delegated payments, spending controls and multi-currency balances.
Laura Bowden, Chief Financial Officer at McLaren Racing, said: “Partnering closely with Airwallex demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in faster, more efficient technology. Airwallex is our first Official AI Finance Partner and we’re confident in their ability to help us run our financial operations faster and more efficiently.”
Pranav Sood, Chief Financial Officer at Airwallex, added: “Formula 1 is built on the pursuit of marginal gains, and that mindset has shaped our partnership with McLaren Racing. Over the past three seasons, we’ve shown how smarter financial infrastructure and AI-native technology can help global organisations move faster and operate with greater control across borders. As we become an Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team from 2027, we’re proud to support their business growth and deepen our relationship. This closely aligns with our broader strategy to help businesses move faster and more profitably than their competitors, and as we enter the Agentic Banking era, we’re focused on deploying intelligent AI capabilities across our unified stack with Agentic Business Accounts at the center.”
Airwallex will continue to provide technology that supports McLaren’s digital partner merchandise platform, enabling the collection of payments from customers using a range of global and local payment methods.
This news follows three successful Formula 1 seasons of the partnership, through which Airwallex has supported McLaren’s global financial operations as it secured its 10th Constructors’ World Championship and as Lando Norris won the Drivers’ Championship in 2025. Last season also represented the sport’s highest TV viewing figures in five years, attracting a total cumulative audience of 1.83 billion, according to Nielsen - up almost 7% on 2024.
Airwallex’s global sports partnership presence continues to move from strength to strength, becoming the Official Finance Software Partner for Arsenal Football Club in July 2025, supporting the club's global financial operations, and both the Official Jersey Patch Partner of the San Francisco Giants and the Official Business Finance Partner of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Club, the Blues, in February 2026,
Airwallex’s Business Accounts enable businesses to scale globally from day one, from opening currency accounts with local bank details around the world to paying out faster via local rails in more than 120 countries, all without the complexity of managing multiple business accounts. Business Accounts provide one consolidated view of the financial operations across global entities, while keeping the legal and regulatory structure organised around the way the business operates.
