Using ACC with bank transfer

Extending the ACC timeline for bank transfer is currently in beta. If you would like to extend the ACC timeline, contact Airwallex Support or your Account Manager.

What is ACC?

With Automatic Currency Conversion (ACC), Airwallex dynamically converts your pricing into the customer's local currency. Airwallex handles all currency conversion on your behalf, ensuring a smooth, localized checkout experience.

ACC is not available on all integration types. Before you build, check the supported integration methods to confirm ACC works with your integration.

ACC and bank transfer expiry time

ACC lets your customer pay by bank transfer using the local rail, avoiding expensive SWIFT fees and long transfer times. Using ACC also shortens the bank transfer expiry time.

Bank transfer has a default expiry time of 2 days. With ACC, the expiry time is shortened to ACC's guaranteed rate window of 1 hour.

Bank transfers can take longer to arrive than other payment methods. Some rails, such as ACH Credit, can take a few hours for Airwallex to receive funds. In these cases, extending the ACC timeline gives your customer enough time to complete the transfer and gives Airwallex enough time to receive the funds, preventing funds from being rejected for arriving after expiry.

You can extend the timeline to 4, 8, or 24 hours, set per currency. For example, you can allow 24 hours for USD transfers and 8 hours for GBP transfers.

A longer timeline means a higher exchange rate; the additional markup is borne by your customer. You will still receive the full settlement amount in your intended collection amount and currency.

To change the default timeline from 1 hour to 4, 8, or 24 hours, contact your Account Manager.

Payer experience

Because the payment amount for bank transfer will be higher than for other payment methods, we make this clear to your customer at two points in the flow:

  1. At checkout, a note discloses that a fee applies to hold the exchange rate for the transfer window: "A small fee applies to bank transfers to hold your exchange rate for 24 hours while the transfer arrives."
  2. On the instruction page, the customer sees the fee already applied in the final amount to transfer, alongside the payment due date and transfer instructions.
