Airwallex’s commercial cards enable you to pay for your business-related expenses. This tutorial guides you through the steps for creating personalized and non-personalized commercial cards. 

Commercial cards can be issued to either [Delegate or Individual type](/issuing__create-cardholders__cardholder-types) cardholders and can be [personalized or non-personalized](/issuing__supported-card-programs#personalized-vs.-non-personalized).

Airwallex's consumer cards enable you pay out to consumers using the issued cards. Consumer use cases include: influencers, gig- economy workers, general payroll, etc. Airwallex has the licenses and infrastructure to support consumer card use cases across a number of jurisdictions worldwide.

Depending on your business requirements, you may also be required to integrate with Airwallex’s [Banking as a Service](/banking-as-a-service__overview) offering and onboard your customers as [Individuals](/banking-as-a-service__kyc-and-onboarding__native-api__individual-kyc-requirements) to access consumer cards.

This tutorial guides you through the steps for creating personalized consumer cards.


Consumer cards can only be issued to [Individual type](/issuing__create-cardholders__cardholder-types) cardholders and as [personalized cards](/issuing__supported-card-programs#personalized-vs.-non-personalized).

      <td>The request to create the card has been received and is under review. </td>
        <td>For individual cards, the cardholder status must be <code>READY</code> for the card request to proceed. If you do not wish to proceed with the card request, you can cancel (<code>CLOSED</code>) the card using <a href="/docs/api#/Issuing/Cards/_api_v1_issuing_cards__id__update/post">Update a card</a> endpoint.</td>

      <td>This status is unused because Airwallex handles the card expiration process by automatically renewing the card for an additional 3 years.  The primary account number (PAN) remains the same, the expiry date and CVV will be updated. The associated `card_id` remains unchanged throughout the renewal process.</td>

The Issuing Cards API provides the flexibility for creating cards tailored to fit your use case. After determining your issuing solution (see [Choose your issuing solution](/issuing__choose-your-issuing-solution)), you can start building your integration for your business requirements. 


All Airwallex cards require an associated cardholder(s). See [Create cardholders](/issuing__create-cardholders). 

- Familiarize yourself with the Airwallex [card offering](/issuing__supported-card-programs). 
- Contact your Airwallex Account Manager to enable Cards, Issuing APIs, and other required configuration for your Airwallex account (see [Integration checklist](/issuing__integration-checklist#test-in-the-demo-environment)).
- [Obtain your access token](/api#/Authentication/API_Access/_api_v1_authentication_login/post) by authenticating to Airwallex using your unique Client ID and API key. You will need the access token to make API calls.
- Make sure you have sufficient funds in your Airwallex Wallet for future card spend. For more information, see [Fund your issuing balance](/issuing__fund-your-issuing-balance). 
- Ensure your onboarding obligations have been met and your account is active.
- (Optional) Set up [webhooks](/developer-tools__listen-for-webhook-events) to receive notifications on [issuing events](/developer-tools__listen-for-webhook-events__event-types__issuing).
