This page describes the status transitions for Global Accounts.
Global Account Statuses
Status transitions when you initiate a request to create a Global Account.
Status | Description |
---|---|
PROCESSING* | Global Account is being created and not ready for use. You should wait for the status to be updated. *PROCESSING is an interim status; the Create a Global Account response may also return ACTIVE status synchronously |
ACTIVE | Global Account has been activated for use. |
FAILED | Global Account creation has failed. Refer to failure_reason for further details. |
CLOSED | Global Account has been closed. Refer to closure_reason for further details. |
You can subscribe to Global Accounts webhook events to receive notifications in on status transitions.
Failure reasons
If a Global Account status is FAILED
, the failure_reason
field explains the issue and outlines the steps to resolve it.
Reason | Description |

Your Airwallex account has been disabled. Please contact our support team. | Your Airwallex Account was disabled during Global Account creation. Please contact our support team for assistance. |
This financial institution provider is no longer available as there has been a change in your account configuration. You may create a new Global Account or contact our support team. | This occurs when a Global Account is in PROCESSING status and a configuration change affects your Airwallex account. Please create a new Global Account or contact our support team. |
Your Global Account creation request has been rejected by the financial institution provider. Please contact our support team for further assistance. | The Global Account creation request was rejected by the underlying financial institution. Please contact our support team for case-specific guidance. |
Closure reasons
If a Global Account status is CLOSED
, the closure_reason
field explains the issue and outlines the steps to resolve it.
Reason | Description |
---|---|
Closed upon customer request | The Global Account was closed at the customer's request or after offboarding from Airwallex. |
Closed following Airwallex internal review. Please contact our support team for more details. | The Global Account was closed after an internal review by Airwallex. Please contact our support team for more information and next steps. |
Closed by financial institution providing the Global Account. You may create a new Global Account or contact our support team for further assistance. | The Global Account was closed by the underlying financial institution. You may create a new Global Account or contact our support team for assistance. |
Closed as your Airwallex account has become dormant. Please contact our support team for more details. | The Global Account was closed as your Airwallex account has become dormant. This is only applicable to your Hong Kong Global Accounts. Please contact our support team for more information and next steps. |
