PIX payouts to PIX keys

When paying BRL locally via PIX, you can pay to a bank account (using a bank code, bank branch, and account number) or to a PIX key. Specify the type of PIX key with the account_routing_type1 parameter under the beneficiary.bank_details object.

See below the supported values for account_routing_type1 and the respective definitions for the account_routing_value1 parameter.

Depending on the Brazilian bank and account type which you’re paying to, the bank branch code and account number format are different:

Tax

Brazil charges IOF (Imposto sobre Operações Financeiras: Tax on Financial Operations) on financial transactions, which is collected as part of FX markup. The rate depends on the direction of the conversion:

  • 0.38% when converting another currency into BRL, such as a payout to a Brazilian bank account.
  • 3.50% when converting BRL into another currency.
