Brought Investment Banking Rigour to Salient AI's Finance and Commercial Operations
Salient AI is a Series A AI platform that automates collections, compliance monitoring, and borrower communications for consumer finance lenders, backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Y Combinator. Gylfadottir, originally from Iceland and a Harvard Business School graduate with a background in investment banking and credit underwriting, joined as VP of Finance and Operations.
Her role spans the full commercial relationship: evaluating opportunities, negotiating agreements, and overseeing delivery, with responsibility for customer performance and growth. Working closely with engineering and managing a team of AI Deployment Leads, she connects financial analysis with decisions about where to invest time and resources.
Alongside finance and commercial responsibilities, Gylfadottir leads hiring, onboarding, and how teams operate, building the reporting and operating processes that give people a clear view of performance and accountability. Her role combines setting strategy and leading execution, bringing a detailed understanding of customers and operations to the company's financial and strategic decisions.
Finance is one of the most under-leveraged growth levers a startup has.
The best finance leaders don't just keep the books. They extend runway,

systems that let it scale across borders.
Startup Finance 30 is the first list built to recognise that work.
Beginning in 2026 and continuing annually, we name 30 finance leaders at
venture-backed, globally ambitious startups. The operators shaping how the
next generation of companies grow.
